10/22 Hangout Recap – Mr. Rogers Style Encouragement

mr-rogers

Thanks to all who joined for the Google Hangout on Tuesday, 10/22!

If you weren’t able to join, here is a summary of this time we spent together, and please join us for an upcoming Google Hangout!

We watched this video of Mr. Rogers accepting a lifetime achievement award in 1997. The whole video is only about 3 minutes long, and very much worth the watching.

In this video, he encourages the crowd to take 10 seconds of silence to think about those people who have helped “love them into being”.

After they take the time, he says that about the people they have chosen to think about “”How pleased they must be to know the difference you feel they’ve made. ”

Can you take those 10 seconds right now to thing about someone who has encouraged you, and helped “love you into being” the person you are today? Now, do they know the difference you feel they have made in your life? Can you take five mins to let them know?

During our Google Hangout we paused the conversation to send emails, texts or Facebook messages to people who have made a difference in our lives.

This can mean so much to someone, will you take the time now?

Also, a few of us stayed on later to have some fun with Google Effects. Check out how the beard and glasses I was wearing showed up on the Jack’s face! Awesome!

Google Hangout features can make our the human face on a playing card and put the beard and glasses to scale on the Jack of Diamonds!
